Police Raid Zuccotti Again…For Books

Police raided Occupy Wall Street again Wednesday night and battled protesters for books known as the ‘People’s Library‘. Protesters formed a human chain to protect the books but police ultimately removed them.  The library has been part of the occupation since it started but was not part of a court order banning camping gear, tarps or sleepovers. It’s the second time in two days the books have been confiscated.

Thousands of books were taken by police during the raid on Occupy Wall Street on Tuesday morning. According to Slate, the library had 5000 books taken but despite a pledge by Mayor Bloomberg that they would be returned, Occupiers couldn’t find most of them.

New video has emerged from Tuesday morning’s raids on Occupy Wall Street. In the clip, protesters are told to stay on the sidewalk and behind barricades or scaffolding as another group of police charges from behind.  The video claims to be shot at around 230 am soon after the raid on Zuccotti Park.

Then yesterday, this is what happened as protesters tried to re-enter the park after receiving a court order from that allowing them to re-occupy the park until police proved cause for their eviction. The judge later ruled against the occupiers. This is what happened.
